William Mitchum
My name is William Mitchum and I am from the small town of Thomasville, Georgia. I am the founder of 828 Project. I originally started 828 Project with the goal of spreading the gospel through a camera lens. I felt called, by God, to use 828 Project as a platform for individuals in my community to share their story and to talk about what God has and continues to do in their life. We had the opportunity to interview Michael Tait and Duncan Phillips from the band Newsboys and former Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Steve Bartkowski. Some of the fondest memories of my high school career occurred behind a camera lens.
As important and life-changing that season was in my life, the Lord shifted his call on my life. I always knew I wanted to go into ministry, but I was not sure at what capacity. I believed that God was calling me to make films that glorified him and changed many lives. When that door closed, I struggled with accepting it. I ran from God’s call on my life. I simply could not understand why God would close a door when it meant so much to me. It was in this season that God humbled me and taught me that his plan and timeline for my life is not the same has my plan and timeline for my life. It took me being in a season of confusion and feeling like a failure
for me to see that I am just a servant and God is my master.
By the grace of God, I discovered my calling to serve individuals who are going through challenging times in their lives both spiritually and mentally. I discovered that there are individuals on this earth who have never experienced the love of Jesus from other people. God is calling me to restore the image of God in man. I get to fulfill that call by being Christian Counselor. I am currently obtaining my Bachelor's of Science in Christian Counseling and a minor in Global Studies from Liberty University's School of Divinity. I cannot begin to express my excitement to begin my journey as a Christian counselor in the very near future.
